Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Director to join our team at the United States Fleet Forces Command. As a key member of our Engineering Department, you will be responsible for providing technical oversight and guidance to ensure the successful maintenance, repair, and modernization of surface ships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with engineering codes across the NAVSEA enterprise to support surface ship maintenance and repair.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary development or training.
  • Resolve technical issues during the construction, alteration, repair, or modernization of surface ships, submarines, or deep submergence systems.
  • Create or manage project schedules to ensure completion of surface ship deliverables.
Requirements
  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Providing technical oversight for the maintenance, repair, and modernization of ships.
  • Reviewing and approving evaluations for many technical and complex problem areas that occur in ship repair.
  • Coordinating routine and emergent maintenance requirements for ensuring ship readiness.
Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

  • Successful completion of a professional engineering degree from a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
