About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Automation Engineer to join our team at Alstom Gruppe. As an R&D Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation systems for our railway environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop automation systems for railway applications, ensuring they are maintainable, extensible, reliable, and consistent with company standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define the architecture and generate specifications for automation platforms.
  • Perform factory acceptance testing and commissioning on clients' sites.
  • Provide maintenance support, including fault finding, diagnosis, and upgrades, to deployed platforms.
  • Participate in design reviews and propose new R&D initiatives, gathering ideas from inside and outside the company.
  • Collaborate and support the provision of control solutions in R&D activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with technological advancements and competitors in the industry.
  • Design for Quality milestones and progress follow-up, including manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and warranty.
  • Propose and drive improvement action plans.
  • Guarantee Return of Experience of deployments to new projects and tenders.
Requirements
  • Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Master of expertise desirable.
  • At least 4 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Experience of implementing automation systems, preferably with Beckhoff PLCs.
  • Experience in PLC programming, HMI creation, and SCADA configuration.
  • Experience on industrial communication protocols, such as Modbus, Profinet, and EtherCAT.
  • Experience on HW troubleshooting & SW debugging.
  • Knowledge of certification process (CE) and railway standards.
  • Spanish: C1.
  • Travel: Between 10-20% of the time, depending on the developments, will require international travel of certain duration for validations and training purposes.
