About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux Desktop Support Specialist to join our team at Canonical. As a key member of our support team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional technical support to our employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Linux-based systems and applications.
  • Assist with the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition to our systems and processes.
  • Participate in international events, providing technical support and infrastructure assistance as needed.
  • Manage and prioritize technical support requests, ensuring timely resolution and high customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the development of knowledge base articles and technical notices for internal and external communication.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for process improvements and service enhancements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as Computer Science, MIS, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience working in a Linux-based environment, either through academic or professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux installation, troubleshooting, and configuration, including recent Ubuntu Desktop releases.
  • Basic desktop Linux usage, including command line tools for file system manipulation.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills, including log collection and configuration file editing.
  • Familiarity with safely installing, uninstalling, and repartitioning machines running Ubuntu Linux.
  • Understanding of Gmail, Google Calendar, and Single Sign-On.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing technologies and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Programming skills in languages such as bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, C, or C++.
  • Customer support experience in a technical environment.
