About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Content Specialist to join our team at Empresa reconocida. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving high-quality documentation that serves the needs of our product's users.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Content Creation: Develop clear and concise tutorials, how-to guides, reference guides, and explanatory material to support our product's users.
  2. User-Centric Approach: Address the needs of users, including developers, system administrators, and end-users, to ensure that our documentation meets their requirements.
  3. Product Expertise: Use and explore our product in depth to identify areas where documentation needs to be improved.
  4. Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, product managers, community members, and other documentation authors to develop high-quality documentation.
  5. Documentation Improvement: Review, road-test, and improve practical guides, and update reference and explanation material in collaboration with colleagues.
  6. Feedback Loop: Improve and correct documentation based on feedback from users and technical support.
  7. Design and Specifications: Read design documents and specifications to ensure that documentation aligns with product development.
  8. Pre-Release Software: Build, install, and use pre-release software to assist in generating proper instructions.
  9. Documentation Standards: Standardize the structure, presentation, style, and language of content across products.
  10. Professional Development: Actively improve documentation through attention to practice, process, tools, and users' needs, and contribute towards the development of documentation as a professional discipline at Empresa reconocida.
Requirements
  1. Technical Authoring Experience: Proven experience as a technical author, comfortable working with, reading, and writing code, or a programmer/developer with a record of producing excellent documentation.
  2. Software Development Experience: Experience in software development in Python, JavaScript, or other suitable languages.
  3. Education: Qualified with a BS/BA or equivalent in Technical Communication, English, or Computer Science.
  4. Technical Writing Experience: Experienced working in a technical writing position.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Technical Expertise: Ability to assimilate technical information rapidly from a variety of sources.
  7. Character and Flexibility: Character and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
  8. UNIX/Linux Experience: Familiarity with command line UNIX/Linux.
  9. Distributed Team Experience: Effective working in a distributed team.
  10. Ubuntu Desktop Experience: Confident using Ubuntu Desktop.
  11. Version Control Systems: Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
  12. HTML and Markdown: Knowledge of HTML and Markdown.
  13. Travel Requirements: Ability to travel twice a year for up to two weeks for events.
