Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Team Leader to join our Language Technologies Unit at BSC. The successful candidate will lead a team of machine learning engineers, data engineers, and computational linguists in the development of deep learning models for speech-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers and linguists in the development of speech-related deep learning models
  • Support the Speech Team Leader in technical aspects of projects
  • Determine team priorities and ensure successful delivery of results
  • Write technical requirements for prototype development
  • Mentor junior team members for career growth
  • Design and implement deep learning models for speech-related tasks
  • Prepare model training in HPC clusters
  • Ensure quality of models
  • Apply for research projects
  • Write research papers
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related disciplines
  • PhD will be a plus
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 1 year in leading engineering teams in the relevant area(s)
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 4 years in deep learning frameworks and in the relevant area(s)
  • Published papers on deep learning, specifically in speech
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in managing product development from ideation to delivery
  • Knowledge of version control tools, and MLOps best practices
Additional Requirements
  • Experience in development of speech and speaker models
  • Understanding of linguistic concepts
  • Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of spoken and written Catalan concepts
