Language Technologies Unit
The Language Technologies Unit at BSC has a strong track record in several areas of natural language processing, including massive language model building, biomedical text mining, machine translation, and unsupervised learning for under-resourced languages and domains.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Speech Team Leader to lead our team of machine learning engineers, data engineers, and computational linguists in developing cutting-edge speech processing technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers and linguists in developing deep learning models for speech-related tasks
- Design and implement deep learning models for speech processing
- Prepare model training in high-performance computing clusters
- Ensure the quality of the models
- Apply for research projects and write research papers
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related disciplines
- PhD will be a plus
- Demonstrated experience of at least 1 year in leading engineering teams in the relevant area(s)
- Demonstrated experience of at least 4 years in deep learning frameworks and in the relevant area(s)
- Published papers on deep learning, specifically in speech
- Experience in project management and product development
- Knowledge of version control tools and MLOps best practices
Additional Requirements
- Experience in development of speech and speaker models
- Understanding of linguistic concepts
- Fluency in English is essential
- Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous
- Knowledge of spoken and written Catalan concepts
