The Construction Vendor Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the critical path schedule of Consultants, General Contractors (GC), and the supply chain. The primary goal is to identify, secure, and enhance the value derived from our vendors in Design & Construction (D&C) projects.
This position requires the individual to cultivate and sustain relationships with vendors while aiding in the development of their capabilities to deliver high-quality projects efficiently, safely, and within budget. The focus is on establishing partnerships and fostering long-term relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Vendor Strategy in collaboration with the Procurement Team.
- Utilize technical expertise to create KPIs that assess vendor performance.
- Conduct metric analysis, leveraging vendor data to derive insights and evaluate key metrics against organizational targets for informed decision-making.
- Establish methods for collecting and synchronizing feedback on Developers, GCs, Consultants, and supply chain vendors by monitoring performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist the Preconstruction Manager and Procurement during the tendering process.
- Oversee external vendors and support internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of CAPEX projects.
- Manage vendor claims and escalations, delve into technical details, and lead problem resolution while maintaining productive relationships.
- Support in leading critical path schedule items and escalate potential risks and delays to leadership.
- Act as a business partner with Procurement, Pre-Construction, and Construction teams to drive the execution of commercial and technical deliverables.
- Collaborate closely with Preconstruction, Construction, and Project Delivery Teams to ensure adequate country capacity for General Contractor & Consultancy sourcing.
- Identify opportunities to automate and simplify processes to enhance productivity.
Basic Qualifications:
- A university degree in civil engineering or architecture.
- Demonstrated project management experience in construction or contracts management.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Proficiency in Excel and other software tools for delivering vendor metrics and conducting analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cross-functional experience, particularly in procurement, planning, cost control, contracts, or project management.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, including macros, database management, and visualization software.
- Experience in contract management (FIDIC, NEC, JTC, etc.) and drafting contracts or legal correspondence is advantageous.
- Previous experience in technical or management roles on construction sites is a plus.
- Proficiency in additional languages such as German, French, Polish, Arabic, or Turkish is preferred.
