Position Overview

We are in search of a passionate and driven Lead SIM Solutions Engineer to become a vital part of our expanding SIM Engineering team, tasked with supporting our growing clientele and diverse solutions portfolio.

The SIM Engineering team plays a crucial role in delivering cutting-edge solutions in the realm of SIM/eSIM Remote SIM Provisioning technology. Our focus is on executing state-of-the-art projects that provide global connectivity across various sectors, including automotive, agriculture, and transportation. We specialize in developing connectivity solutions that utilize remote SIM provisioning platforms, managing a complex ecosystem of SIM/eSIM technologies while overseeing SIM/eSIM card logistics and fulfillment to support a worldwide customer base.

The ideal candidate will have the chance to engage with emerging connectivity technologies such as 5G, non-terrestrial networks, and the evolution of eSIM in accordance with GSMA specifications SGP.32 and beyond. This role will allow you to significantly influence Cubic's connectivity solutions. We seek individuals who are comfortable working proactively in a fast-paced, adaptable environment and who bring a positive, collaborative spirit to their work, coupled with an analytical mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and document innovative features or products for existing Cubic SIM/eSIM solutions tailored for M2M and IoT clients.
  • Investigate, learn, and showcase new technologies to enhance Cubic's connectivity offerings through improved SIM/eSIM features, while taking a leadership role in developing new product opportunities.
  • Generate new concepts and disseminate knowledge across teams regarding new technologies and market updates.
  • Engage in RFx processes for the selection and onboarding of new suppliers.
  • Design, develop, and test SIM-based applications and tools that support SIM applications and their integration within the ecosystem.
  • Identify and address customer pain points to enhance user experience and satisfaction.
  • Maintain continuous interaction with other technology teams to gain insight into end-to-end processes and solutions.

What We Offer

This role presents an excellent opportunity for a Lead SIM Solutions Engineer to deepen their understanding of the complete end-to-end process of SIM/eSIM ordering and provisioning, including SIM/eSIM Over-the-Air (OTA) infrastructure and management, SIM Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) solutions for M2M and IoT, and the interaction between SIM, devices, and networks. You will have the chance to showcase your technical and organizational skills while bringing innovative ideas to fruition, collaborating with a small team of experienced engineers at the forefront of M2M and IoT eSIM technologies, and supporting other technical teams in delivering comprehensive end-to-end solutions.

Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A degree in a technology-related field such as engineering, computer science, or a similar discipline.
  • 6 to 9 years of experience in a technology organization, preferably within the telecommunications sector, with up to 5 years of experience in SIM/eSIM/OTA engineering R&D.
  • In-depth knowledge and strong working experience in:
    • Javacard development and testing.
    • Remote SIM Provisioning technologies, including GSMA SGP.02, GSMA SGP.22/SGP.32 and beyond.
    • ETSI/3GPP smart card/(U)SIM specifications, ISO 7816, and Global Platform 2.2+ specifications.
    • Hands-on experience with modem/TCU testing.
    • SIM OTA development and testing.
    • Understanding of SIM security protocols.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as DataDog and Zabbix.
  • Proficiency in Java, C#, SQL, and scripting languages.
  • A proactive, open-minded individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A quick learner who enjoys delving into various technologies.
  • A quality-focused individual with a curiosity for technology.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of task completion.
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • A proven track record of collaboration with operations/support teams.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools, such as Confluence and Jira.
