About the Role

Cubic Telecom is seeking a highly skilled SIM Engineer to join our team. As a SIM Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and documenting new features and products for our SIM/eSIM solutions. You will work closely with our technology teams to deliver state-of-the-art technology projects with global connectivity reach to the automotive, agriculture, and transport industries.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with new connectivity technologies such as 5G, non-terrestrial networks, and eSIM evolution to GSMA specification SGP.32 and beyond. You will influence Cubic's connectivity solutions accordingly and be responsible for researching, learning, and showcasing new technologies to improve our existing product offering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and document new features or products for our SIM/eSIM solutions
  • Research and learn new technologies to improve our existing product offering
  • Work closely with our technology teams to deliver state-of-the-art technology projects
  • Participate in RFx processes for the selection and onboarding of new suppliers
  • Design, develop, test SIM-based applications and tools supporting SIM applications and their integration within the ecosystem

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A third-level qualification in a technology discipline such as engineering, computer science, or a similar discipline
  • 6-9 years of experience working in a technology organization, preferably in telecoms technology, with up to 5 years' experience in SIM/eSIM/OTA engineering R&D
  • Strong working experience and deep understanding of Javacard 2.2.2+ development and testing, Remote SIM Provisioning technologies GSMA SGP.02, GSMA SGP.22/SGP.32 and beyond, ETSI/3GPP smart card/(U)SIM specifications, ISO 7816, Global Platform 2.2+ specifications, On-hands modem/TCU testing, SIM OTA development and testing, and SIM Security knowledge
  • Monitoring and alerting tools experience, e.g., DataDog, Zabbix
  • Java, C#, SQL, scripting knowledge
  • Proactive and open-minded person with analytical & problem-solving thinking
  • Fast learner who likes to deep-dive within multiple technologies
  • Quality-focused individual with curiosity for technology
  • Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility for the completion of tasks
  • Effective communication skills
