About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and talented Lead Environment Artist to join our team at 2K Games. As a key member of our art team, you will be responsible for creating stunning and immersive environments that bring our games to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Art Directors and other Leads to ensure that the environment art team understands the artistic vision and propagates the artistic values throughout the game.
- Work with Design and Narrative leads to create stunning and compelling environments that meet the highest standards of quality and consistency.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with the leads and production teams in both Valencia and North America to align team efforts and ensure seamless project execution.
- Participate in scoping and creative vision discussions and advocate for the environment team's needs to ensure the best possible outcome for the project.
- Establish asset authoring best practices by collaborating with Engineering and Tech Art to understand asset creation specs and parameters.
- Establish and maintain modular asset pipelines for world and architecture kits to ensure efficient and effective asset creation.
- Partner with Production to provide feedback and input on development schedules and ensure that the environment team is aligned with project goals and objectives.
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Art Environment Team and provide guidance and support to team members as needed.
- Create and manage asset lists in collaboration with internal partner teams to ensure that all assets are properly tracked and managed.
- Review assets from internal and/or external partners to ensure that they meet the highest standards of quality and consistency.
- Mentor and grow leadership potential within the environment team to ensure that we have a strong pipeline of talent for future roles.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Environment Artist with a strong background in AAA game development and a passion for creating stunning and immersive environments. You should have a keen eye for detail and a ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
You should have a strong understanding of the tools and techniques used in environment art, including Substance Designer, Substance Painter, ZBrush, Maya/Blender, and Photoshop. You should also have experience with asset creation pipelines and be able to establish and maintain modular asset pipelines for world and architecture kits.
