Compliance Director Job Description

At Automattic, we're expanding our reach into the public sector and growing momentum in highly regulated use cases. As a Compliance Director, you'll play a critical role in establishing an enterprise-grade, world-class Compliance function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure attainment of FedRAMP Moderate ATO and lead ongoing processes such as ConMon, Annual Assessments, and SCR activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define a quarterly roadmap for the Compliance function, addressing certifications and customer commitments.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for all Compliance-related activities.
  • Work across product, engineering, systems, and legal teams to identify and manage privacy, data protection risks, and compliance requirements.
  • Select and implement systems and reporting protocols to support multiple certifications and documentation requirements.
About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to make an impact by establishing a Compliance function that aligns with business goals. You'll work closely with executive and senior leaders to drive Compliance and Security programs forward.

As a Compliance Director, you'll be responsible for driving toward attaining compliance standards, including FedRAMP, ISO27K, SOC, and CSA Star. You'll contribute to evolving our approach to GRC and help our business capture a healthy share of the government sector total addressable market.

This role requires deep expertise with the FedRAMP certification process and Compliance more generally. You'll be familiar with compliance standards such as NIST 800-53 and able to guide the organization on implementation approaches that balance security and compliance requirements with business and cultural realities.
