Director of Rooms Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Rooms to join our pre-opening team at SLS Barcelona. As a key member of our hotel management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, and Laundry departments, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the PBX team in delivering consistent service aligned with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the organization and administrative functions across the Rooms Division, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration among departments.
  • Manage the Rooms Division daily, fostering a culture of guest and team member satisfaction.
  • Evaluate performance regularly, taking corrective actions when necessary to drive excellence.
  • Establish and champion SLS-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Rooms Division.
  • Attend, lead, and participate in various hotel and departmental meetings.
  • Conduct interviews for Rooms Division positions.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Committee to determine strategy, training, and tools needed to empower team members to deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Facilitate training and development for Rooms Division team members to meet SLS and Ennismore standards.
  • Monitor and review guest feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Respond directly to guests as necessary.
  • Work closely with the Hotel Manager to monitor daily availability and occupancy, resolving any challenges with Revenue.
  • Participate in Fire Safety and Loss Prevention programs.

Requirements

  • Experience in hospitality, restaurants, and nightlife required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in the hotel industry, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
  • Proven team leader with high energy and motivation, demonstrating a track record of living the company's values.
  • Proficient understanding of computer systems, including Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Solid understanding of local legal compliance requirements.
  • Ability to make people feel good, inspiring team members, guests, and colleagues alike.
  • Strong team leadership skills, with a natural ability to manage and inspire others.
  • Excellent relationship builder, confident in working with other teams and leaders.
  • Ownership of important issues, problem-solving, and effective decision-making.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to SLS's unique culture.
  • Humble and open to ideas, with a willingness to try new approaches.
