ROLE OVERVIEW


• Oversee and streamline the grid connection processes for new wind, solar, and energy storage initiatives, from initial site assessment through to construction and operational phases.

• Play a pivotal role in engaging with distribution and transmission network operators within Germany, fostering strong professional relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist in identifying prospective sites, leading pre-application discussions with network operators, and nurturing collaborative relationships.
2. Prepare and review application documentation, offering technical guidance to ensure that connection agreements are both technically sound and commercially viable.
3. Maintain a network of skilled consultants and manage third-party services to deliver technical support for grid-related services.
4. Collaborate with project management and business development teams to ensure comprehensive engineering considerations are integrated into the development process, optimizing financial modeling inputs related to grid connections for ongoing projects and acquisition prospects.
5. Support project tendering by reviewing documentation and contributing insights during the concept design, detailed design, and construction phases to ensure successful project execution.
6. During the construction phase, assist the construction team by coordinating testing activities, analyzing performance metrics, and proactively addressing issues with network operators while ensuring compliance with Grid Code requirements.
7. Represent EDP Renewables with professionalism, establishing and nurturing positive relationships with all stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
A degree in Electrical or Energy Engineering or a related field is required.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
5 to 8 years of experience in the development of wind and/or solar energy projects from a grid connection perspective.

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE


• Proven experience in renewable energy projects, particularly in wind, solar, and storage sectors.

• In-depth technical knowledge of electricity grids, including planning, implementation, and application processes for grid connections in Germany.

• Expertise in optimizing grid connection applications.

• Familiarity with AC and DC electrical design for solar PV installations and grid connection methodologies.

• Understanding of high voltage electrical equipment, control systems, SCADA, protection, and metering.

• Knowledge of distribution network operators' processes for renewable generator connections in Germany.

• Awareness of health and safety regulations pertaining to electrical systems.

• Proficient in conveying complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Fluency in both German and English is essential.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES


• Possession of a valid German driving license. Strong stakeholder management abilities.

• Capacity to work independently while also being an integral part of a team.

• Excellent written communication skills in German, including report writing.

• Strong organizational skills and a collaborative approach to communication.
