Position Title: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Group: Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices
Project Overview:
The Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices (AEMD) group is dedicated to exploring the material science and technological aspects of innovative electronic materials. Our focus is primarily on graphene and other two-dimensional materials, such as MoS2. We aim to develop practical applications for these materials in various fields, including electronics, bioelectronics, and neural interfaces.
This multidisciplinary project encompasses a wide range of scientific topics, from the fundamental physics of devices and semiconductors to the growth and characterization of materials. Our work includes:
- Material growth techniques, including CVD and MOCVD for graphene and MoS2.
- Surface functionalization and advanced characterization methods.
- Device fabrication technologies and nanofabrication processes.
- Application development in neural implants, biomedical technologies, biosensors, and flexible electronics.
Main Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will engage in a comprehensive project that integrates materials science, thin-film technologies for neural interfaces, and in-vivo validation of neural technologies. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, fabricating, and characterizing multiplexed arrays of graphene transistors for brain activity monitoring.
This research initiative is funded by the European Union under the 'Graphene Transistors for High-Density Brain-Computer Interfaces' project.
Qualifications:
- Education: PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related fields.
- Experience: Proficiency in neural interfaces and implantable devices, thin-film technology, device microfabrication, and flexible electronics.
- Familiarity with 2D materials and electrochemistry.
- Experience with microscopic and spectroscopic characterization techniques (Raman, PL, AFM, SEM, TEM, XPS).
- Knowledge in neuroscience and electrophysiology.
Personal Skills:
- Strong teamwork abilities.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position (37.5 hours/week).
- Contract duration: to be discussed.
- Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
