Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Technician to join our team at the Air Force Institute Of Technology. As an Electronics Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our afloat networks and combat systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS) or any other technical assistance affecting assigned ships subsystems to diagnose, correct, and restore combat readiness;
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Afloat Networks;
  • Evaluate and test new or modernized shipboard systems for operation of major afloat network subsystems;
  • Develop operational/maintenance procedures and recommend improvement and/or corrective information;
  • Provide technical guidance on software and hardware systems (e.g., Fiber Attached Storage (FAS), Microsoft Server Update Service (WSUS), Host Based Security System (HBSS), Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS), Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES), etc.).
Requirements
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector;
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining afloat networks, evaluating and testing new or modernized shipboard systems, developing operational/maintenance procedures, and providing technical guidance on software and hardware systems.
Working Conditions

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. This is a Mission Essential position, and you will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Physical Demands

The work regularly involves frequent exposure to hazardous conditions such as high electrical voltages, large rotating machinery elements, electromagnetic radiation from high-powered transmitters, nuclear radiation in and around machinery spaces aboard nuclear-powered ships, explosive, flammable, or incendiary materials, turbines, condensers, etc.
