Company Overview

ALTER SOLUTIONS is seeking expert consultancy services in Web Administration to provide continuous management and assistance for our Web Hosting Services. Our Unified Web Hosting team operates across various locations, primarily within Europe, delivering both project-based and ongoing support.

Position Overview

The selected candidate will report directly to the technical lead of the Unified Web Hosting team and is expected to possess extensive expertise in Linux system administration and web application management.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting the Unified Web Hosting Team with projects and ongoing support services as required.

Work Environment

This role is remote with an expectation of being on-call one week per month.

Required Technical Proficiencies:
Candidates MUST demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Proven experience in System Administration with a focus on Linux. Familiarity with Open-Source Web Servers such as Nginx or Apache. Proficiency in version control systems like git. Capability to understand and write scripts in languages such as Bash, Python, PHP, etc. Experience with Cloud Services including Azure, AWS, GCP. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of Service Management frameworks like ITIL. Candidates SHOULD have experience with CMS platforms: WordPress, Drupal, Moodle, Liferay. Familiarity with databases such as MariaDB/MySQL, Postgres. Understanding of load-balancing and proxy technologies, including CDNs. Experience with containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes.

Qualifications

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Web Applications Administrator with substantial exposure to PHP, Java, and/or Python.

Essential Soft Skills:

Ability to simplify complex challenges and pursue innovative solutions; Proficient in engaging with clients, assessing and gathering their requirements, weighing options, and translating them into effective solution designs; eagerness to learn on the job.

Preferred Certifications:

Cloud certifications (Azure & AWS) are highly regarded. Knowledge and experience with the LAMP stack would be advantageous.
