We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in Spain. As a Legal Counsel for Spain, you will play a critical role in proactively identifying and mitigating all legal risks relating to the real estate development and operations of our data centre and light industrial/logistics asset classes.
Key Responsibilities- Draft, Review, and Negotiate Agreements: You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and other legal documents in relation to the development of data centre and light industrial/logistics projects, including energy, power, and grid connection and use, RIBA and other design engineering and architect services, EPC agreements, and procurement.
- Stay Up-to-Date on Relevant Laws and Regulations: You will stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, case law, and industry trends impacting the company and proactively advise the organisation on potential legal risks and opportunities.
- Ensure Compliance and Train the Team: You will ensure compliance with the company's policies, standards, and values and train and educate the Spanish team on relevant legal and compliance matters.
- Manage External Law Firms: You will involve and manage external law firms in an effective and timely way and at fair cost.
- Coordinate Legal Disputes: You will ensure the coordination of legal disputes and/or litigation.
- Collaborate with the Team: You will work in close collaboration with the other Legal Counsel in Madrid and the European legal team, the Spanish business team, and the wider European team.
- Master's Degree in Law: You must have a Master's degree in law from a Spanish university.
- Excellent Knowledge of Contract Law: You must have excellent knowledge of contract law, construction law, and energy law with a strong interest in all regulatory changes triggered by sustainability.
- Proven Experience: You must have at least 8 years of proven experience as a legal counsel or a similar role in a company or law firm, of which minimum 5 years in construction law for major (infrastructure) projects and/or data centers.
- Strong Analytical and Communication Skills: You must have strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to Work Independently: You must be able to work without significant supervision and independently handle most complex legal matters.
- Perfect Knowledge of Spanish and English: You must have perfect knowledge of Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to Travel: You must be able to travel on short notice and work on multiple projects under tight time pressure in a fast-changing environment.
- Experience in International Projects: You must have experience in international projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: You must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
