Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Life Sciences and Healthcare team in Barcelona. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for researching and identifying Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods and algorithms to solve specific problems and improve user experience on Life Sciences and Healthcare products.
About the Role
- Research and identify ML and NLP methods and algorithms to solve specific problems and improve user experience on Life Sciences and Healthcare products.
- Implement these methods and devise appropriate test plans to validate and compare the different approaches.
- Identify new applications of ML and NLP in the context of Clarivate's extensive sets of content and data.
- Explore existing data for insights and recommend additional sources of data for improvements.
About the Team
The team consists of 16 people and is reporting to the Head of Technology for Life Sciences and Healthcare. We create data solutions and products that support the entire drug lifecycle through Strategy, R&D, Regulatory, and Commercialization.

Requirements
- An advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Technology, or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 6 years of industry experience as well as 5 years of proven track record in the application of ML.
- Excellent analytical and Python programming skills. Other languages a plus.
- Good communication & presentation skills: you feel comfortable connecting people, gathering data & information across business unit boundaries and telling & selling the story.
- Ability to test ideas and adapt methods quickly end to end from data extraction to implementation and validation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with search engines, classification algorithms, recommendation systems, and relevance evaluation methodologies.
- Experience with NLP solutions in the Life Sciences and Healthcare domain.
- Experience with ML pipelines and deployment.
- A master's degree or PhD with a focus on AI/ML.
