Job Summary: Novartis is seeking a highly skilled Regional Head Business Planning and Strategy to lead the financial planning and analysis function for the REFS Rest of World region. This role will provide financial expertise and drive the achievement of REFS financial, transformation, and savings targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning and Analysis: Partner with REFS Finance globally, Operations Finance, and REFS Business Leadership teams in RoW to align financial strategies and objectives.
  2. Cost Transparency: Provide cost transparency and ensure a good understanding of key cost drivers for REFS RoW by location and business area.
  3. Risk Management: Evaluate risks & opportunities, proactively communicate findings, and make recommendations for mitigation.
  4. Business Strategy: Understand and keep current with the business strategy and objectives of various divisions, partnering effectively to provide cost-effective solutions.
  5. Financial Reporting: Provide timely, accurate, and meaningful financial management reporting on operation and project costs.
  6. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Country/Region Finance and Business in REFS, as well as across Operations and all divisions, providing financial expertise for the evaluation, execution, and tracking of REFS Investments/Divestments and projects in RoW.
  7. Process Improvement: Establish a robust process for accurate monitoring and reporting of key KPIs for savings and performance.
  8. Accounting Practices: Ensure good accounting practices in line with Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM), MAL/FIKO, Investment guidelines and approvals process.
  9. Team Development: Train and develop the Finance team to be recognized as a value-adding function within the organization.

Requirements:

  1. Education: University Degree in Finance / MBA / Certified Public Accountant Degree (CPA).
  2. Language: English language is mandatory; Spanish is beneficial.
  3. Experience: years of experience in budgeting, controlling, and reporting for shared service and real estate function or equivalent.
  4. Skills: Experience with strategy implementation, system development, cost management, performance monitoring.
  5. Accounting and Financial Reporting: Accounting, internal audit / financial reporting and accounting experience.
  6. Business Partnering: Strong business partnering across multiple stakeholders.
  7. Cost Management: Active cost management.
  8. Technical Skills: Excellent knowledge of Excel, Power Point, SAP systems, with working knowledge of Ariba.
