Lead 3D Character Artist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead 3D Character Artist to join our team in Barcelona. As a key member of our art team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D characters and creatures for our PC/Console video game project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of 3D Character Artists.
  • Create high-quality 3D characters and creatures, including sculpting, modeling, UV mapping, texturing, and material creation.
  • Work closely with the Art Director to ensure the visual target is exceeded and stylistically consistent.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines, such as Design, Concept Art, Animation, Tech Art, and VFX, to ensure characters are fully realized.
  • Verify the quality of assets in the game and make improvements where necessary.
  • Mentor 3D Character Artists and provide creative and technical training, guidance, and feedback.
Requirements:
  • High-quality portfolio of gamedev-relevant 3D Character Art.
  • Excellent understanding of game mechanics related to characters, objects, and environments.
  • Experience integrating 3D assets into industry-leading game engines, such as Unity or Unreal.
  • Proficiency in modeling programs, such as 3DSMAX, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, and texture/material authoring tools, such as Photoshop and Substance.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively coordinate with every department of a game development team.
