Location: This role is open to candidates based in Spain or the UK.

Overview: The Construction Vendor Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the critical path schedule of Consultants, General Contractors (GC), and the supply chain. The primary goal is to identify, secure, and enhance the value derived from our vendors in Design & Construction (D&C) projects.

The successful candidate will cultivate and sustain relationships with vendors, aiding in the development of their capabilities to deliver high-quality projects efficiently, safely, and within budget constraints. This position emphasizes the establishment of partnerships and long-term relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and uphold the Vendor Strategy for GCs and Consultants in collaboration with the Procurement Team.
  • Possess the technical acumen to develop KPIs that assess vendor performance.
  • Conduct metric analysis, utilizing vendor data to derive comprehensive insights and evaluate key metrics against organizational targets for informed decision-making.
  • Establish methods to gather and synchronize feedback on Developers, GCs, Consultants, and supply chain vendors by monitoring performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist the Preconstruction Manager and Procurement during the tendering process.
  • Oversee external vendors and support internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of CAPEX projects safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Manage vendor claims and escalations, delve into technical details, and lead problem resolution while prioritizing Amazon's interests, driving process improvements, and fostering productive relationships.
  • Support the management of critical path schedule items and escalate potential risks and delays to leadership.
  • Act as a business partner with Procurement, Pre-Construction, and Construction teams, driving the execution of commercial and technical deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with Preconstruction, Construction, and Project Delivery Teams to ensure adequate country capacity for General Contractor and Consultancy sourcing.
  • Identify opportunities and provide insights to automate and streamline processes to enhance productivity.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A university degree in civil engineering or architecture.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in construction or contracts management.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proficiency in data-driven argumentation.
  • Proficient in using Excel and software tools to deliver vendor metrics and conduct data-driven analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cross-functional experience, particularly in procurement, planning, cost control, contracts, or project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including macros, database management, QuickSight, or representation software.
  • Experience in contract management (FIDIC, NEC, JTC, etc.), drafting contracts, or legal correspondence is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in technical or management roles on construction sites is a plus.
  • Proficiency in German, French, Polish, Arabic, or Turkish is considered a preferred qualification.
