Research Director for Software Networks
Fundació I2Cat is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Director to lead our Software Networks research area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of our research initiatives and overseeing the development of innovative solutions in software networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the achievement of the overall strategic objectives of Fundació I2Cat, focusing on scientific and technological excellence, as well as the generation of impact on technology, economy, and society.
- Lead, coordinate, and manage a team of engineers and PhDs to achieve the goals of the Software Networks area.
- Develop the professional career of the Software Networks team members.
- Define, update, and maintain a research innovation roadmap of the area in coordination with the Director of Research and Development of Fundació I2Cat.
- Foster cross-collaboration with other research and innovation areas of Fundació I2Cat to tackle multi-technological problems and challenges.
- Manage resource planning for RD in the different research lines of the area.
- Foster research innovation ideas within the team and identify relevant public funding programs for proposal development and submission.
- Build and maintain a network of key people and organizations with whom to establish long-lasting and impact-oriented collaborations.
- Coordinate the definition of technological assets with the Communication Technologies Director aiming at impact on standardization bodies as well as in the market, through the licensing of IPR or the generation of spin-offs.
- Identify and plan the strategy for the participation of Software Networks team members in relevant scientific WGs to ensure continuous scientific and technological watch.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in leading research teams and driving strategic initiatives.
- Strong expertise in software networks and related technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain a research innovation roadmap.
- Experience in managing resource planning and budgeting.
- Strong network of contacts in the research and innovation community.
