Job Title: Head of Electric/Electronic Development

At MAHLE, we are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to lead our Electric/Electronic Development team. As the Head of Electric/Electronic Development, you will be responsible for leading a global department of Electric/Electronic Development and System Engineering teams for the AC Electrical Compressor product segment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Electric/Electronic Development teams for the AC Electrical Compressor product segment, ensuring proper Design to Quality, Design to Manufacture, Design to Safety, and Design to Cost mindset.
  • Organize the department structure and continuous improvement of its maturity.
  • Describe/update and align the team Missions, Roles, Interactions, and associated RASIC with other departments.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure frictionless collaboration between them.
  • Set department goals and monitor their implementation.
  • Describe, harmonize, and align the main Processes and Guidelines of the team, and PDP deliverables maturity by gate reviews.
  • Communicate lessons learned between projects and the different Product Development Engineers.
  • Ensure fulfillment of XDK and BU4 general rules, processes, and tools.
  • Structure, follow, and report the monitoring of the added value of the team to Key projects.
  • Define and align with Management/PM and Product Managers the KPI templates for the specific Domain.
  • Apply and organize the report of these KPI for Key projects.
  • Ensure successful fulfillment of the domain commitments to ongoing projects.
  • Plan (anticipate) and follow the adequacy between workload and resource for the team.
  • Resource management in terms of people and equipment.
  • Track, and pull/align with PMs the required Resource Requests (Budget) per projects.
  • Track Hours recording into the system and follow/report on a regular basis the adequacy with budget.
  • Define and update the Resource estimation guidelines for PMs, with clear criteria, aligned with management and PM/Product Managers.
  • Define required team setup per project and associated staffing.
  • Provide coaching, organize training needs, and people development.
  • Identify and develop sustainable possibilities for external support (MESI/Brightskies/Subcontractors) or internal reallocation when relevant.
  • Manage external suppliers.
  • Conduct interviews for new hiring.
  • Mentoring and training of the department team members.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Physics, or similar.
  • MBA in the field is a plus.
  • English (C1) is required.
  • Knowledge in German, Spanish, French, and/or Italian languages will be a plus.
  • Technical background in automotive electronics development is required.
  • Technical background in power electronics topologies and hardware design.
  • Technical background in electronics schematics design.
  • Technical background in embedded software development.
  • Technical background in prototypes assembly and testing.
  • Technical background in functional, thermal, electrical, and EMC validation.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and simulations.
  • Knowledge of automotive environmental validation normative.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Quality Standards: VDA 6.3 and AIAG normative.
  • Knowledge of Automotive deliverables for PPAP and PSW.
  • Knowledge of Automotive SPICE processes.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO26262).
  • Knowledge in Cybersecurity will be a plus.
  • Cross-functional communication.
  • Experience leading development teams, delegate tasks, coaching, and promote people.
  • Experience in managing international remote teams.
  • Experience in projects monitoring: timing, costs, risks.
  • Experience in workload monitoring.
  • Experience with inter-personal communication and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in interacting with clients, suppliers, and external companies.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Experience in working in a V model development process (ASPICE, CMMI).
  • Experience in developing and implementing automotive electronics development processes.
  • Experience in customer requirements analysis and negotiation.
  • Experience with system/block diagrams, electronics schematics, e-Layout, mechanical design, 3D models, 2D drawings, Bill Of Materials, automotive validations procedures, and normative, validation plans, and automotive quality deliverables.
  • Experience in problem-solving through 8D report methodology.
  • Experience in planning resources, budget, and CapEx management.
  • Experience in projects acquisition and offer preparation.
  • Participation in customer audits.
  • Participation in product portfolio strategy.
  • Business Plans preparation.
  • Experience in reporting to Management.
