Job Description

Role Purpose Statement:

The Indirect Tax Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely fulfillment of VAT compliance obligations within the regional finance organization of Hs Mittweida in Mittweida.

You will support the development of the indirect tax technology strategy with a focus on automation and continuous improvement of the VAT processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with Hs Mittweida's policies and procedures.

Main Accountabilities:

The Indirect Tax Specialist will be an integral part of the Hs Mittweida team but will work on day-to-day tasks independently.

Thus, experience is required.

The Indirect Tax Specialist will be responsible for the preparation and timely and correct submission of the declarations and VAT returns for all EU VAT registered entities.

Due to changes in the evolving VAT compliance requirements, regulations, and changes to the business structure and design, the current responsibilities of the VAT accountant may expand and alter in the future.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Proactively follow up and resolve issues found in the reconciliation and VAT compliance process.
  • Ensure VAT, Intrastat, and ESL are reported correctly and timely for the assigned VAT registrations.
  • E-filing of the declarations in the secured internet environment.
  • Work closely with the cash team to ensure payments are made accurately and on time.
  • Perform VAT reconciliations and follow up with Accounts Payable and Execution teams to ensure correct VAT treatment of transactions.
  • Provide training to internal departments to expand their VAT knowledge, ensuring the VAT compliance status of the company.
  • Advise on ad hoc VAT issues.
  • Support the Indirect Tax Team with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Assist local Tax managers in handling external VAT audits and queries.
  • Participate in technological projects to improve VAT compliance processes.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as an Indirect Tax Specialist.
  • 3+ years of professional practice in multinational companies.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Significant experience in accounting and knowledge of European VAT rules and regulations.
  • Numerical and analytical skills are required, along with system knowledge (SAP, SAP S/4 HANA).
