Job Title: Hardware Development Engineer for Space Processors

Join the Computer Architecture and Operating System group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center as a Hardware Development Engineer for Space Processors. Our team aims to carry out research on programming models for critical embedded systems in charge of controlling fundamental parts of cars, airplanes, and satellites.

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to implement existing solutions for space processors, such as AI accelerators, and to implement new features in them. The work will involve porting the designs to FPGAs and contributing to their tape-out activities.

The successful candidate will be part of the METASAT project, a European Commission-funded project coordinated by BSC and performed with collaboration from several industrial partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement existing hardware solutions for space processors
  • Port hardware designs to FPGAs
  • Participate in tape-out activities
  • Evaluate the performance of developed hardware designs
Requirements:
  • Ongoing Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience with hardware design languages and FPGA use
  • Demonstrated AI and GPU programming training
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
  • C, C++, CUDA, Python programming
  • At least one hardware design language (System Verilog, VHDL)
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience:
  • Experience with real-time, critical systems and/or reliability
  • Experience with the hardware description code of at least one open source embedded processor
Competences:
  • Problem-solving, pro-active, result-oriented work attitude
  • Ability to perform work both individually and in a team
  • Good communication skills, including a good command of the English language (written and spoken)
Conditions:
