About the Role

Cepsa is seeking a skilled Middle Distillates Trader to join our team. As a key member of our trading team, you will be responsible for identifying and capitalizing on profitable opportunities in the Middle Distillates market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in active trading and portfolio management within Middle Distillates markets, focusing on maintaining profitability while adhering to established risk parameters.
  • Develop and implement trading strategies and manage pricing exposures based on market intelligence.
  • Engage in trading financial derivatives for hedging purposes and to optimize asset optionality, as well as for proprietary trading.
  • Identify and act upon new market opportunities and business expansion, leveraging market insights and relationships to cultivate new ventures.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of market risks and exposure to make well-informed trading decisions in line with organizational goals.
  • Adjust and optimize trading strategies in response to market fluctuations, operational challenges, and supply disruptions.
  • Share market intelligence and tactical approaches, contributing to the collective knowledge and strategic direction of the trading team.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key customers and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a few years of experience in commercial negotiations for storage, pipeline, transportation, and commodity contracts.
  • A proven track record of successful trading results.
  • Comfort with financial derivatives and experience in trading regional arbitrage with diverse derivative instruments and freight.
  • An understanding of refining economics.
  • Fluency in English is essential, and additional language skills, such as Spanish, are advantageous.
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical skills, self-motivation, and a strategic perspective on risk management.
  • Passion for trading and financial markets, with a high-energy approach to tackling analytical challenges.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure trading environments and execute arbitrage strategies.
  • Collaborative team player with a focus on business development and relationship building.
  • Commercially savvy with a comprehensive understanding of middle distillates markets.
