We are currently seeking a Mechanical or Systems Engineer with a strong background in hardware engineering to manage our collaborations with external partners. This position demands a seasoned expert capable of steering technical initiatives with outside firms, ensuring alignment with project goals, technical specifications, and quality benchmarks. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in hardware design, systems engineering, and leading intricate technical projects with external collaborators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to establish technical requirements for mechanical hardware and outline overall system processes and protocols.
  • Evaluate technical proposals from external vendors, ensuring they meet project requirements, feasibility, and technical approaches.
  • Analyze vendor submissions for alignment with project specifications and provide recommendations based on technical merit.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, work breakdown structures, and schedules for technical deliverables in conjunction with external vendors on mechanical engineering designs and releases.
  • Offer technical leadership and support to external partners throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges that arise during project execution, collaborating with both internal and external teams to devise solutions and mitigate risks.
  • Establish and uphold technical quality assurance standards for hardware and software development, conducting regular audits to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between internal stakeholders and external partners, providing updates on technical progress, issues, and risks to ensure transparency.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience leading mechanical design teams in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical project management, particularly in mechanical and software development.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong technical knowledge in hardware design, systems engineering, and integration.
  • Experience managing technical activities with external vendors and contractors.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Track record of successfully managing complex technical projects, delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.
