**Your mission**
The IT Services Group (ITSG) is at the heart of the value chain for MSP. Our team which consists of Product, Core Engineering, IT Services, Support and Architecture are a tight knit operating unit where excellence is the standard.
The Service Management function is a fresh addition to the IT Services group with the mission of guaranteeing that the IT services provided align with the needs and expectations of the business and its customers. The department is responsible for Service Management within the organisation which includes Service Design, Service Transition, Service Assurance, Service Governance and Risk management, all aimed at providing optimal service delivery.
In this role, you will be responsible for building and developing the IT asset management function, encompassing both software and hardware asset management. This includes assessing and evaluating the current processes and designing and implementing necessary changes to ensure they align with ITIL best practices and are fit for purpose.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, hands on and experienced professional to help shape and lead the IT Asset Management function within a global technology company.
**What you'll do**
- Build and lead the IT Asset Management function from the ground up, assess and evaluate current processes, and design and implement necessary changes to ensure they align with ITIL best practices and are fit for purpose
- Perform daily and long-term operational and strategic management of hardware and software assets.
- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of IT assets and ensure accurate tracking and record-keeping throughout the asset lifecycle, using appropriate tools and systems.
- Develop and implement IT asset management strategies, policies, and processes for the organisation, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Oversee the acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal of IT assets, including hardware and software, while optimising costs and ensuring assets are utilised effectively.
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, and IT teams to ensure cost-effective and efficient procurement and maintenance of IT assets.
- Develop and implement software asset management (SAM) processes, including license compliance, software usage monitoring, and optimisation.
- Lead hardware asset management initiatives, including lifecycle planning, tracking, and disposal of hardware assets in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
- Conduct regular audits of IT assets and processes to identify risks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Provide regular reports and updates on IT asset management activities, including asset inventory, licensing, and disposal, to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Train and mentor staff in IT asset management best practices and processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and compliance.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in IT asset management, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance the organisation's asset management function.
- Own IT asset management processes and ensure these are communicated and followed throughout the IT function.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and other teams.
**What you'll bring**
- Previous experience in building practice from the ground up
- Minimum of five years’ experience working in an IT service environment within a complex and diverse organisation, with 3 years being at an IT asset manager role.
- Have demonstrable experience and aptitude in working in a matrix organisation where effective and robust negotiating and influencing skills are used successfully while maintaining good working relationships with members of that organisation
- Strong knowledge of IT software and hardware as well as experience working as an IT asset analyst.
- Strong knowledge and experience working with a CMDB and ITSM tools and the specific business services and products that they support.
- Profound knowledge of licensing agreements involving software, solutions, services and maintenance including Tier 1 vendors such as Microsoft and Cisco.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to IT asset management.
- Professional certifications in IT asset management, such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP), are highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of IT Service Management processes.
- Experience of working for a managed services
