**The Role**: Director - Analytic Quality Review Officer
**The Location**: EMEA based, Madrid
Analytic Quality & Validation (AQV) has a global scope and consists of experienced credit analysts with substantial experience in the Capital Markets. AQV is charged in part with:
Providing an independent, risk-based assessment of the inherent risks of various sectors and robustness of the analysis to enhance analytical quality by fostering effective analytical processes and defendable ratings.
Providing S&P’s Global Risk and Compliance Committee, Senior Management and Regulators with an independent view of credit or other risks to analytic quality of credit ratings by conducting sector monitoring and targeted reviews on a risk-basis.
**The Impact**: Responsible for AQV activities in multiple sectors of Structured Finance focusing on EMEA but will also have global responsibilities. Proactively foster analytical excellence and transparency through monitoring, on a risk basis, of credit ratings performance, applicable methodology, macroeconomic risks and the analysis supporting credit ratings. Further, responsible for conducting Targeted Reviews and providing the outcome of the reviews to S&P’s Global Risk and Compliance Committee and Senior Management

**Responsibilities**:
Managing the relationships with the Analytical Manager/AOCC Leaders of the related Sector as well as serving as an ambassador of AQV’s views, positions and messages to various stakeholders (which can include Board Members, Regulators, and Senior Ratings Management).
Present outcomes and insights of review activities to key stakeholders including AOCC chairs, senior analysts and members of Methodology.
Facilitate emerging risk identification and the development of remedies.
Provide analytical insights to the 1st Line on holistic risk mitigation. Provide insights and advice on best practices and observations across Practices and regions.
Prepare Risk Based Reports and materials for your assigned sectors, focusing on key systemic analytically relevant risks and trends, and assist with the preparation of Board materials as requested.
Research external market data and synthesize the results in order to identify key credit trends and sector risks.
Lead/contribute to team’s development and maintenance of various Analytic Platforms/visualizations, including design and implementation to further analytic capabilities and enable insights. Ensure the ongoing development and maintenance of credit/sector metrics for his/her assigned area.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts/messages orally and in writing.
Strong technical skills which will enable them to extract/analyze large sets of data/make connections and to develop appropriate and impactful insights and narratives. Technical capabilities can include but are not limited to the use/understanding of SQL, VBA, Python, Tableau, etc.
Ability to transfer Sector knowledge and credit experience when evaluating new Sectors/practices.
Ability to appropriately influence relevant stakeholders, as needed.
**Basic Qualifications**:
BA or BS in Business, Finance, or related field. Graduate degree preferred.
7+ years in credit analysis (primarily at a rating agency).
Demonstrated track record of critical thinking and problem solving.
Able to demonstrate independence and objectivity.
Proficiency with Excel, SQL, VBA, R, Python preferred.
**Grade Level**: Grade 13 (for internal purposes)
