The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. Research is organized in three main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Child and Maternal Health, and Urban Health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.

We are looking for a Policy Coordinator to join an exciting team of researchers, practitioners and communicators with a passion to bring about equality and the right of all to health.
The Policy Coordinator will be based in Madrid (Spain), with an international portfolio that covers Europe, Africa and Latin America. This post will work directly with the Policy Director of ISGlobal and alongside the other professionals within the Department of Global Development and Policy, the translational team within the institution, which includes the areas of policy, global development and communications. Our areas of interest include the response to the coronavirus pandemic, the implementations of SDGs, health systems and equality, pharmaceutical innovation and access to medicines, preparedness against global risks, and migration and health, among others.
The main tasks of this post include analyzing public and private policies, nurturing and defending ISGlobal's positions, and creating networks and alliances to support this work. Crucially, this person will be the key link with ISGlobal's scientific teams engaged in translating research into policies and practices.
The candidate will be required to apply analytic capacities, produce written and oral pieces in Spanish and English, and relate to a diversity of expert individuals and organizations, defining and managing international strategies accordingly.
In order to fulfill these tasks, the ideal candidate will have the combination of skills and capacities that includes insightful policy understanding, familiarity with data analysis, brilliant written and oral communication skills, outstanding networking capacities and ability to work on a diversity of issues at the same time. The candidate will need to prove a profound expertise on global health (ideally with specialized studies), as well as being familiarised with scientific research projects and methodologies.
The functions and responsibilities in the Policy area include:
Coordination and production of global health studies and policy analysis:
Representing ISGlobal externally:
Participating in the design and implementation of the department's strategy.
Providing policy support and advise to the scientific translational effort of ISGlobal in areas such as:
Building and maintaining close relationships with strategic contacts:
Ensuring project coordination and follow up with other departments within the organization as needed.
