A SQL Data Developer role with a compliance business in regulated online gaming, focused on SQL Server, data quality, and RG and AML model support. Our client is a compliance-focused business operating at the intersection of online gaming and regulatory data. They are looking for a Data Developer to join a close-knit team that builds and maintain the data models, database objects, and analytical outputs that underpin Responsible Gambling and Anti-Money Laundering risk identification. The SQL Data Developer will be responsible for translating compliance and business requirements into well-structured, testable data solutions. Day to day, that means writing and optimising SQL against SQL Server, investigating data quality issues, and supporting ETL and ELT processes, batch jobs, and data transformations.
The role sits within a team that values cultural fit as much as technical ability, so the ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical colleagues and non-technical client stakeholders is just as important as the code itself.
The position is offered on a full-time basis with a three-month probation period. Depending on where the successful SQL Data Developer is based, the engagement will be structured as either an employment contract or a consultancy arrangement. What you'll own RG and AML data model support
Database object development and optimisation
You will build, refine, and maintain database objects within SQL Server, with a focus on producing outputs that can stand up to scrutiny in compliance and audit contexts. Performance and correctness are both non-negotiable here.
Data quality and validation
You will investigate data quality issues as they arise, validate model outcomes against expected results, and document findings clearly. Keeping data pipelines trustworthy is central to what this team delivers for its clients.
ETL and ELT pipeline support
You will contribute to ETL and ELT-style processing, data transformations, and the ongoing maintenance of scheduled and batch jobs. Experience building or maintaining data pipelines is a strong advantage, and familiarity with cloud environments and modern data tooling will be welcomed.
You will work directly with compliance and business stakeholders to understand their requirements and turn them into clear, testable data solutions. You will support the production and maintenance of documentation appropriate to auditable, regulated environments, including online casino and sports betting compliance contexts. Accuracy and thoroughness in documentation are as valued here as they are in the underlying data.
Within the first few months, a successful SQL Data Developer will have a solid grasp of the client's data models, compliance requirements, and the database environment they operate in. They will be producing reliable, well-documented outputs independently, identifying and resolving data quality issues without significant hand-holding, and communicating clearly with stakeholders across the business.
Longer term, success looks like being a dependable contributor to the team's delivery standards, someone who improves the robustness of pipelines and models over time, brings ideas for doing things more efficiently, and earns the trust of both internal colleagues and external clients through the quality and consistency of their work.
The Data Developer will join a small, collaborative team operating within a compliance-oriented business that serves clients in regulated online gaming markets. You will work alongside technical colleagues on database and pipeline development, and you will interact regularly with compliance and business stakeholders, some of whom will be non-technical, to gather requirements, present findings, and support decision-making.
The culture is informal and collegial, and the team places genuine weight on personality and cultural fit alongside technical capability.
Experience in online gambling/iGaming or related domains such as compliance, payments, fraud, or risk
Experience building or maintaining ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines
Familiarity with cloud environments and modern data tooling
Working knowledge of Python or other common programming languages
Our client is offering a salary of £36,000 to £40,000 based on experience, on a full-time basis. Depending on where you are based, the contract will be structured as either a direct employment arrangement or a consultancy agreement. Beyond the fundamentals, you will be joining a team that works on genuinely meaningful compliance problems in regulated markets, with real visibility into how your work shapes outcomes for clients operating across online casino and sports betting environments. The informal culture means you will be trusted to get on with your work and contribute your perspective without unnecessary layers of process.
