Overview In this Senior Software Engineer role within Pearson’s AI Learning Capabilities for English Language Learning, you design and deliver backend systems that fuse AI and LLM capabilities into learning products. You work with cross‑functional teams to turn product ideas into scalable, secure services. You’ll lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and champion best practices across the SDLC, with a focus on reliability and continuous improvement. This is a chance to shape education technology at scale and contribute to a mission‑driven team.

ResponsabilidadesDesign, implement, and maintain backend components for digital productsCollaborate with cross‑functional teams to define objectives and timelinesLead projects and advocate backend best practices, supporting innovationArchitect scalable backend services and APIs, including AI integration and microservices deploymentOperationalize AI models with data science teams and ensure reliability and scalabilityMaintain technical documentation and mentor junior engineersChampion continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and DevOps‑aligned practicesEnsure security and compliance in collaboration with relevant teamsStay updated on industry trends and propose improvements Requisitos principalesBachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related fieldProven experience in software engineering principles, development processes, and industry trends for development and QAHands‑on experience with PythonProficiency in at least one modern cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure)Proficiency in software engineering best practices (code review, multi‑stage testing, CI/CD)Experience with scalable development (Docker, Kubernetes)Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills with attention to detailExperience with data processing (build pipelines, data versioning)Working experience in Agile practices, product and project management principlesCommitment to inclusivity and diversity in the workplaceExcellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levelsExperience in diverse, remote, asynchronous teamsProficiency in written and spoken EnglishStrong communicationCollaborative mindsetMentoring and leadershipPythonCloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)CI/CD
