Fire Alarm Supervisor
North London | Hybrid Working
Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on experience

Overview Our client, a well-established specialist, is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Supervisor to oversee the delivery of installation, maintenance, and compliance programmes across a portfolio of residential properties, with a strong focus on social housing contracts.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong fire alarm professional who combines hands-on expertise with proven leadership experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing field-based engineers, maintaining industry compliance standards, supporting client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
Key Duties Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide day-to-day support, direction, and technical guidance to a team of fire alarm engineers.
  • Promote a positive working environment focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, inductions, training plans, and employee development.
  • Conduct performance reviews and address operational or personnel issues where required.
  • Mentor engineers and support the development of junior staff.
Technical Oversight & Compliance
  • Supervise the installation, servicing, fault-finding, and upgrading of fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and quality audits to verify standards are being met.
  • Ensure all completed works comply with current fire industry regulations and recognised standards.
  • Check and approve engineer certification and associated documentation.
  • Support accreditation audits and maintain compliance with third-party certification requirements.
  • Deliver technical briefings, safety updates, and toolbox talks to operational teams.
Customer & Contract Management
  • Attend meetings with clients, contractors, and stakeholders when required.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for operational queries and project issues.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across customer accounts.
  • Assist in resolving service concerns and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
Operational Support
  • Produce quotations for additional works and system modifications.
  • Review variation requests and provide technical input on project changes.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records using internal management systems and reporting platforms.
  • Contribute ideas and initiatives that improve efficiency, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.
Candidate Profile The ideal applicant will possess:
  • Extensive knowledge of fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Previous supervisory, team leader, or management experience within the fire industry.
  • A track record of successfully managing engineers against service and performance targets.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, quality assurance, and industry best practice.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
  • Effective communication skills with both clients and technical teams.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Requirements
  • FIA Fire Detection & Alarm Design Theory and Regulatory Requirements qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working within the fire alarm industry.
  • Strong understanding of BS 5839 standards.
  • Relevant electrical qualification equivalent to City & Guilds Level 3 and current wiring regulations knowledge.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
  • NVQ Electrical Installation and AM2.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
  • FIA Advanced Installer.
  • FIA Advanced Commissioning
