The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Manager for its Research Projects and International Collaborations Unit.
Our mission is to lead, from the vantage point of molecular science, cross-strategies for solving major social and economic challenges, such as climate change and sustainable supply of energetic and raw materials, thereby contributing to the establishment of a knowledge-based economy and improving citizens' quality of life in our influence area.
Responsibilities
- Funding: Identify and proactively disseminate new funding opportunities for the research lines at ICIQ.
- Project preparation: Support the definition of research projects, advising on project partners, preparation of budget, support on proposal writing and submission.
- Liaising between research group leaders and other ICIQ support areas for the daily running of the projects.
- Project Coordination: Monitor the progress of work, anticipate possible problems and maintain excellent communication with the Principal Investigator and with the Project Officer or equivalent from funding agencies. Organize and participate in consortium meetings, teleconferences, reviews and other events. Prepare and submit highquality periodic reports on time (collect and review consortium information).
- Scientific policy: Analysis and participation in the definition of roadmaps and strategic agendas.
- Other: Collaborate to improve the holistic project management operations at the centre, from the project submission to reporting, justification and impact analysis, by sharing information and best practises among the different units involved.
Requirements:
- University Degree (Chemistry related degrees might be an advantage).
- Research experience or PhD.
- Previous experience, at least five years, in research project management and knowledge/awareness of European and National research funding.
- Excellent communication (both oral and written) and networking skills
- Advanced level of English, Spanish and Catalan (written and spoken) is required.
- Team working skills.
- Proactive and enthusiastic personality.
- Ability to summarize key information.
- Used to prioritize, working under pressure with strict deadlines.
- Availability to travel within Europe.
Valued qualities:
- Experience working in a research centre.
- International experience.
- Experience/knowledge on science policy.
- Good knowledge of CERCA centres.
We offer:
- A permanent fulltime employment contract.
- Remuneration according to the individual's qualification/experience.
- Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments.
