The FPI-ICIQ 2024 Call is a prestigious opportunity for exceptional graduate students to support their enrollment in a training and research program in the field of chemistry, leading to the completion of a Doctoral Thesis in partnership with the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV).
Research OpportunitiesThe selected PhD students will have the opportunity to develop their professional careers in the fields of academia and industry by:
- Performing an individual research project under the direction of an internationally renowned Group Leader in a creative and stimulating scientific environment.
- Participating in a comprehensive training program in both technical and soft skills, designed to ensure a successful career, including scientific seminars, hands-on training in the use of state-of-the-art scientific instrumentation, IP management, entrepreneurship, research integrity, knowledge and technology transfer, grant applications, project management, communication skills, and career development.
- Having opportunities for short stays in distinguished international research institutions.
Candidates should have an excellent academic record, a strong commitment to scientific research, and a solid working knowledge of English. The process of evaluation and selection guarantees the principles of competition, publicity, and transparency. Admission to the program is on a competitive basis, and only one application per person will be considered.
Supervisors and ProjectsThe program is led by three internationally renowned supervisors:
- Prof. Pablo Ballester Balaguer: Molecular clefts, cavitands, and cages derived from calix[4]pyrroles: synthesis and studies of their applications (mocacube)
- Prof. Arjan W. Kleij: Advancing Metal-Assisted Transformations of Functionalized Heterocycles into Novel Stereodefined Scaffolds (AVANT-GARDE)
- Prof. Mónica H. Pérez Temprano: Expanding the chemical space of cobalt synthetic and mechanistic tactics: From Fundamentals to Catalysis (COMET)
