Madrid, Community of Madrid, ES Head of Development role description Velto Renewables (Velto), a subsidiary of CDPQ (Caisse de Dépôt et Placement de Québec), is looking for a Head of Development (HD) to join its team in Madrid, Spain, to work closely with the Managing Director.
Velto and its subsidiaries currently hold a portfolio of operating solar PV assets of c.200+ MW located in Spain and manages CDPQ's 25% investment in the operation offshore wind farm London Array (630 MW) located in the UK.
It is anticipated that Velto grows its investment and management portfolio to other technologies and other geographies in the upcoming months.
Reporting to the MD, the HD will lead the development process of renewable energy project in various jurisdictions across Europe up to RtB and will support the structuring and construction activities of the pipeline.
Responsabilities - Definition and organization of the tasks and workstreams related to development and co development activities;- Leadership, coordination and execution of the pipeline under development including permitting, land, grid connection, route to market, social and stakeholders engagement, etc. ;
- Close monitoring of deadlines and processes associated to development.
- Budget planning and control of the development pipeline;
- Coordination with the financial team of the projects financial models and their related updates according to the development evolution;
- Coordination and supervision of developments and codevelopment partners.
- Coordination and supervision the developments consultants: legal, environmental, technical, social, etc. ;
- Coordinate the technical definition of the projects with a holistic view according to technical, environmental, financial, social, etc. constraints;
- Measure and report development progress, budget, KPIs, etc. ;
- Support the origination and discussion of PPAs;
- Support the origination and discussion of project finance agreements;
- Support procurement and construction activities;
- Support the M&A process of the company;
- Support the origination of new development activities across different European countries;
- Support the hiring activities to grow Velto's development team.
- Solid understanding of technical and design principles of renewable energy projects;
- Solid experience producing comprehensive management, performance, and financial reporting;
- Solid knowledge of contracting, procurement and construction of renewable energy projects;
- Knowledge of financial valuation process for renewable energy projects;
- Strong capacity and experience managing portfolio of projects according to sophisticated procedures, including capacity to produce such procedures;
- Knowledge of PPA and project finance;
- Must be autonomous and proactive: develop own workstreams and work across many different functions;
- Good level of comfort with data management: proficient at extracting and analysing large amounts of data and presenting information in an easytounderstand way;
- Good team player with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Interest and willingness to work on a startup environment;
- High Level of Proficiency with MS Office suite of products (Excel in particular);
- Valid driver's licence.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish;
- A minimum of 10 years of working experience, 7 of which developing and delivering renewable energy projects in Spain, Italy and across Europe;
- Experience designing and/or analysing technical performance of renewable energy projects;
- Experience in procurement and construction.
- Experience with PPA and project finance.
- Good understanding of the relationship between development and technical inputs with financial modelling.
