Research engineer in sensor-based sorting systems

We are looking for a research engineer to support the steelmaking, casting & scrap team in the field of green steel production route, projects related to scrap characterization and for the implementation of new technologies in industrial environment. Steelmaking, Casting & Scrap Area is one R&D department alignment with ArcelorMittal objectives to ensure tomorrow steel production, focused on new green routes, scrap optimized use, new technologies in electric routes as well as to enhance steel processes developing the most suitable solutions involved in global research projects.

Your role 

• You will be involved in the steel process transformation by leading projects and giving support to the plants to implement the most suitable solutions
• In particular, you will work on the development of new ways to characterize and sort out the scrap in an automatized way 
• You will interact with the whole ArcelorMittal community: Global R&D specialists and technicians, plant experts, corporate teams, etc. and develop collaborative research with external partners (academic laboratories, technical centers, suppliers).

Your profile

• You hold a Master degree in electronics, mechatronics, robotics, automation engineering or computer science engineering
• You have a proven experience in the development of automated systems based on cameras, sensors, AI or computer vision. 
• Knowledge in Python
• Experience or knowledge of the steel industry and especially in scrap would be a nice asset 
• You are advanced in English and Spanish
• You are a driving force of proposals with a positive attitude and you are motivated by learning and addressing new challenges
