At ING we are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Internal Auditor (Business & IT) to join our Corporate Audit Services (CAS) team in Madrid. Within ING's global Corporate Audit Services function, you will work in an active and dynamic environment and contribute to a strong governance, risk management and control framework. You will provide independent and objective assurance, primarily across ING Spain and Portugal, covering business processes and their interaction with technology, data and IT controls. CAS helps ING accomplish its objectives through a systematic and documented approach to assess and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls. Our audits provide practical, value-adding insights while safeguarding the independence and professional judgement of the internal audit function. Our way of working is ambitious, collaborative and focused on continuous improvement. We are looking for someone who combines:
*
- Strong business judgement and the ability to understand end-to-end banking processes.
*
- A solid understanding of IT risks and controls, and how technology supports business processes.
*
- A critical, analytical and evidence-based mindset.
*
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders and constructively challenging senior management.
*
- Curiosity, learning agility and the ability to think beyond established approaches. Based in Madrid, the CAS Spain team is responsible for audit coverage across ING Spain and Portugal. As part of a global function, you will also collaborate with international audit teams and may contribute to cross-border and global audits. Our ideal candidate has:
*
- A bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, economics, finance, accounting, engineering, information systems or a related discipline.
*
- Between 3 and 5 years of relevant experience in external audit, preferably in a Big Four firm, or in an internal audit function. Experience in financial services is strongly preferred.
*
- Hands-on experience auditing business processes, with the ability to assess related IT dependencies, technology risks and key IT controls.
*
- Good understanding of governance, risk management and internal control principles, and the ability to translate complex matters into clear audit conclusions.
*
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning and organisational skills, with attention to detail and a pragmatic mindset.
*
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to ask difficult questions and constructively challenge.
*
- Excellent written and spoken English. Spanish is also required for effective engagement with local stakeholders.
*
- It would be a strong advantage if you have:
*
- Professional certification or progress towards one, such as CIA, CISA, CISM, CRMA or equivalent.
*
- Experience auditing banking products, financial risk or non-financial risk within a regulated financial institution.
*
- Knowledge of IT general controls, cybersecurity, cloud, data governance, technology change or third-party technology risk.
*

*
- Experience using data analytics, visualisation or audit automation tools to improve audit coverage and insight. What do
