Schneider Digital is the digital department of Schneider Electric, leading the digital transformation in the company by giving support globally to our internal teams and our clients. Schneider Digital consists of 6 Digital Hubs worldwide which are strategically located to ensure a 24/7 support across the company (France, China, India, USA, Mexico and Spain). Our Digital Hub in Barcelona is formed by +450 employees working in strategic projects and different roles such as Data, Cybersecurity, ERP, Cloud, Infrastructures, IT Project Management or Digital Marketing.
Join us as an Senior Automation Engineer and help transform the way network and security services are delivered. You will design reliable, secure and maintainable automation solutions that connect enterprise platforms, streamline operational workflows and reduce manual effort. The role combines software engineering, API integration and network security expertise, with a strong focus on GitHub, Python and ServiceNow.
What will you do?
• Design, develop and maintain automation solutions for network and security operations using Python and reusable software engineering practices
• Build and support REST API integrations between ServiceNow, network and security platforms, cloud services and internal systems
• Develop ServiceNow integrations that create, update and enrich incidents, requests, changes and configuration data through approved interfaces
• Use GitHub for source control, pull requests, code review, branching strategies, issue tracking and continuous integration and delivery workflows
• Implement secure authentication and authorisation patterns, including, CyberArc Conjur, OAuth 2.0, API tokens, service accounts, certificates, secrets management and role-based access control
• Create robust automation with validation, structured logging, error handling, retry logic, audit trails and operational monitoring
• Translate operational requirements into scalable technical designs, reusable modules and well-documented interfaces
• Troubleshoot workflow failures across APIs, identity services, proxies, gateways, firewalls and target platforms
• Partner with network, cybersecurity, infrastructure, service management and application teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Contribute to engineering standards, technical documentation, testing practices, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement What are the key skills we are looking for?
• Python and automation engineering
- strong practical experience building modular, testable and maintainable automation, scripts and services
• GitHub and software delivery
- confident use of Git, pull requests, peer review, branch protection, GitHub Actions and controlled release practices
• API integration
- experience designing and consuming REST APIs, working with JSON, HTTP methods, status codes, pagination, webhooks and API documentation
• ServiceNow integration
- experience integrating with ServiceNow APIs and workflows for incident, request, change and configuration management use cases
• Authentication and secrets
- working knowledge of OAuth 2.0 flows, token lifecycle, API keys, certificates, service principals, managed identities and secure secret storage
• Network and security fundamentals
- understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, proxies, firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation and common security controls
• Testing and reliability
- experience with unit and integration testing, exception handling, observability, performance considerations and safe rollback approaches
• Security by design
- ability to apply least privilege, input validation, secure coding, dependency management and auditability throughout the automation lifecycle
• Communication and stakeholder management
- ability to explain technical topics clearly, challenge requirements constructively and collaborate across global teams What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
• Hands-on experience in automation engineering, platform integration, DevOps, network engineering or cybersecurity operations
• Proficiency in Python and practical experience working with API-based integrations in production environments
• Experience with GitHub-based development workflows and automated testing or deployment pipelines
• Good understanding of enterprise identity, authentication, authorisation and secure credential handling
• Ability to analyse complex technical problems independently and drive issues through to a sustainable resolution
• Strong documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear design notes, runbooks, interface specifications and support guidance
• Collaborative mindset, attention to detail and a commitment to reliable, secure and supportable engineering
• Relevant technical education or equivalent professional experience; certifications in cloud, networking, security, ServiceNow or DevOps are beneficial What is in it for me?
