Senior Data Center Developer

Opdenergy is a growing independent renewable energy producer (IPP) with presence in Europe, United States and Latin America with more than 21 years of experience. The company develops, builds, finances, manages, and operates high quality renewable energy projects in several countries, with a portfolio of 2.6 GW (1.3 operational and +1.3 ready to build / under construction) assets in operation and construction. Its total development portfolio exceeds 18 GW. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Center Development Manager to join our Madrid team. What will you help with?
• Lead the full development cycle of Data Center and Powered Land projects across Spain, from origination through development readiness.
• Assess new opportunities and coordinate the initial evaluation of power availability, land, fiber connectivity, water access, onsite generation solutions, planning and permitting requirements.
• Define and lead grid connection strategies, coordinating access and connection processes with TSOs and DSOs.
• Identify and secure suitable land opportunities, managing relationships with landowners, brokers, advisors and public authorities.
• Coordinate conceptual engineering, environmental studies, urban planning assessments and technical due diligence activities.
• Manage relationships with local, regional and national authorities throughout the development process.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary internal teams, including Grid, Engineering, Legal, Permitting, Land, PPA and Tax.
• Prepare, manage and monitor project schedules, budgets and development risks.
• Manage external consultants, technical advisors and negotiations with infrastructure partners and energy developers when required.
• Support interactions with Data Center operators, hyperscalers, infrastructure investors and potential development partners.
• Participate in partnership, co-development, investment and project sale opportunities.
• Monitor market and technology trends, adapting project development strategies to evolving technical requirements. Who you are
• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, energy, utilities, data center or industrial real estate development.
• Proven experience managing large-scale development projects.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: grid connections, energy infrastructure, land acquisition, permitting or Data Center development.
• Strong project and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience negotiating complex commercial, land or development agreements.
• High level of English.
• Highly autonomous, execution-oriented and solution-driven.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
