Job Description
The candidate will jibe involved in haematological research. The project is on the characterisation of inherited platelet bleeding disorders and the biology of platelets and their secretory granules. The Project is funded by Spain's Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (Reference PID2024-159102OB-I00; Estudio de NBEAL2 en gránulos de secreción de plaquetas y otras células mieloides en modelos animales y en plaquetas generadas de células madre; Role of NBEAL2 in the homeostasis of secretory granules of platelets and neutrophils using mice and stem cell-derived platelets). Role Description The role is based at the Universidad de Murcia in Murcia, Spain. Our aim is to better understand platelet function and the formation, retention and secretion of their secretory granules.

We offer
the chance to join a highly productive and international recognised research group on platelet biology. We study patients, their blood and use model systems such as transgenic mice and cell models. The candidate will be involved in characterising and phenotyping these patients and models. We use relevant and modern methodology such as induced pluripotent stem cells & their reprogramming towards megakaryocytic, and gene editing of such cells by CRISPR-Cas9. We will support the candidate with strong funding applications to maximise success. Requirements for PhD students: A University and a Master's degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Biomedicine or similar subjects with top marks equivalent to greater than 8 out of 10 following the Spanish System. Requirements for Postdocs: Completion of PhD and a good publications record to be competitive for the application process. Experience in haematology is a bonus.
