Job Title: Full time - Research Technician – KEY DETERMINANTS OF YOUTH LONG-TERM LABOUR MARKET PATHS. A fifteen years’ follow-up of 2006 young newcomers to the Spanish formal labour market (YOUNGPATHS) REF: CPIS-PSR-2025-09

Euraxess: https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/340834

Position Overview:
We are looking for a Research Technician to support the implementation of the YOUNGPATHS project, which analyses the long-term labour market trajectories of young people who entered the Spanish labour market in 2006. The project uses sequence analysis, hidden Markov models (HMM), and machine learning techniques applied to longitudinal administrative data (MCVL) to explore patterns of employment precariousness and its determinants. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing and analysing longitudinal datasets, implementing statistical models, and contributing to the generation of scientific outputs under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and in coordination with the research team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Data Preparation and Management:
Process and harmonize longitudinal data from the Muestra Continua de Vidas Laborales (MCVL), integrating multiple editions and matching across administrative sources.
  2. Panel Construction:
Develop scripts and procedures for building individual labour market trajectories (monthly-based), ensuring accuracy and consistency over time.
  3. Data Analysis:
Apply statistical methods including sequence analysis, clustering, and multinomial logistic regression, as well as support the implementation of hidden Markov models.
  4. Imputation and Validation:
Contribute to the development and execution of imputation methods (e.g., for income variables) and conduct data quality checks.
  5. Documentation and Reproducibility:
Maintain clear records of all data transformations, develop metadata and codebooks, and ensure reproducibility of research workflows.
  6. Scientific Collaboration:
Assist in generating tables, figures, and technical outputs for scientific publications and conferences.
