As a Pastry Chef at Zuma, desserts are a showcase of creativity and artistry, completing the ultimate dining experience, you'll take a leadership role in the pastry department, blending innovation and tradition to deliver exceptional quality while inspiring and developing your team.

Zuma is a contemporary Japanese restaurant collection, inspired by the dynamic Izakaya dining style. This role will be based in Zuma Madrid. Zuma brings its world-renowned experience to the Spanish capital, featuring an iconic bar with our resident DJ's and our contemporary luxury dining. Zuma Madrid is proud to be part of the Azumi Collection.

Main Duties

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee desserts' preparation to maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and appearance, while minimizing waste
  • Support each pastry section to ensure service reflects Zuma's creativity, flair, and precision
  • Estimate food consumption needs and plan orders for perishables and equipment to ensure adequate stock levels and smooth operations
  • Ensure proper maintenance of kitchen equipment and uphold clear, sanitized, and safe work areas
  • Address guest and team member inquiries courteously, escalating issues to senior chefs or management as necessary
  • Train and mentor junior pastry chefs, conducting regular training sessions on techniques, recipes, and knife skills to foster growth and skill enhancement
