SAP Operations Manager

Role Overview The SAP Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of SAP operations across TD SYNNEX. This hybrid technical-management role requires strong leadership and hands-on technical expertise in SAP operations, including system maintenance, batch job management, transport management, and archiving activities. The incumbent will manage complex technical teams, ensure operational excellence across SAP landscapes, drive process automation initiatives, and maintain alignment with ITIL best practices. This role reports directly to the Global Director of IT Operations and requires a versatile professional who can navigate both technical and managerial domains with autonomy and make strategic decisions. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership and Management Lead, mentor, and develop technical teams responsible for SAP operations, batch processing, and system maintenance.Manage team performance, capacity planning, and resource allocation across global SAP operations.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and operational discipline.Conduct regular performance reviews, career development discussions, and skills assessments.Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with SAP development, infrastructure, and business teams.SAP Operations and Service Delivery Oversee day-to-day SAP operational activities, including system monitoring, incident management, and problem resolution.Ensure SAP systems maintain optimal availability, performance, and reliability across development, quality, and production landscapes.Manage operational escalations and serve as the primary point of contact for critical SAP incidents.Define and monitor operational KPIs and SLAs, ensuring consistent service delivery to business stakeholders.Coordinate with infrastructure teams to ensure SAP environments meet performance and capacity requirements.Batch Job Management and Automation Manage enterprise batch job scheduling operations using Redwood RunMyJobs or similar workload automation platforms.Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of complex batch job chains supporting critical business processes.Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual intervention and improve operational efficiency.Analyze batch job performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.Ensure proper documentation, change control, and disaster recovery procedures for batch operations.SAP Transport Management Oversee SAP transport management processes across system landscapes (DEV > QAS > PRD).Ensure transport procedures comply with change management policies and regulatory requirements.Coordinate with development and functional teams to manage transport schedules and emergency changes.Implement controls and monitoring to prevent transport-related incidents and system instability.SAP Archiving and Data Management Manage SAP archiving strategies and operations to optimize system performance and database growth.Plan and execute archiving projects in collaboration with functional and technical teams.Ensure compliance with data retention policies and regulatory requirements.Monitor archiving processes and address any issues impacting business operations.Process Improvement and ITIL Alignment Drive continuous improvement of SAP operational processes aligned with ITIL best practices.Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and operational efficiency gains.Implement and maintain operational procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base documentation.Lead post-incident reviews and ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.Champion adoption of modern operational methodologies and emerging technologies.Strategic Planning and Stakeholder Management Collaborate with the Global Director of IT Operations to define SAP operational strategy and roadmap.Participate in SAP upgrade planning, system migrations, and transformation initiatives.Communicate operational status, risks, and improvement plans to senior leadership and stakeholders.Manage vendor relationships related to SAP operations and workload automation tools.Contribute to budget planning and cost optimization initiatives for SAP operations.Autonomous Decision-Making and Leadership Make independent operational decisions within defined authority and escalate appropriately when needed.Balance technical considerations with business impact when prioritizing work and resolving conflicts.Demonstrate proactive problem-solving and take ownership of operational outcomes.Navigate organizational complexity and drive initiatives across matrixed, global teams.Qualifications & Experience Required 8+ years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in roles involving people management and technical leadership.Proven track record managing complex technical teams in multinational organizations.Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.Demonstrated ability to make autonomous decisions and drive operational initiatives.Experience working within structured IT operations frameworks and processes.Fluent English (spoken and written) for effective communication with global teams and leadership.Preferred Hands-on experience with SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA) in operational or technical roles.Knowledge of SAP archiving concepts, tools, and best practices.Experience managing Redwood RunMyJobs, Control-M, or similar enterprise workload automation platforms.Familiarity with SAP transport management and change control procedures.Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration Management).Experience in IT infrastructure and operations management.Background in process automation and emerging technology adoption.Knowledge of cloud-based SAP deployments (SAP on Azure, AWS, or similar).Relevant certifications (e.g.,
