Role Overview

As the
QA Lead
, you will own the quality assurance strategy, testing frameworks, and validation processes across Vitio's product portfolio, with a primary focus on ensuring our healthcare solutions meet the highest standards of reliability and compliance. Your goal is to establish comprehensive testing methodologies, maintain rigorous quality gates, and implement pragmatic approaches to risk mitigation and defect prevention. You will also provide leadership, mentor QA team members, and establish quality standards that ensure stable, secure, and compliant software delivery in a regulated healthcare context.

Key Responsibilities

1. Testing Methodology

  • Design and implement comprehensive test strategies aligned with ISTQB standards, establishing risk-based testing approaches tailored to healthcare applications and patient safety requirements
  • Develop and maintain test planning documentation including test policies, test strategies, and test plans that ensure thorough coverage of functional, non-functional, and regulatory requirements
  • Establish metrics-driven quality assessment frameworks to measure test effectiveness, defect detection rates, and overall product quality trends

2. Automatic e2e testing

  • Architect and implement BDD-driven test automation frameworks using Cucumber for cross-platform test scenario management, ensuring healthcare workflows are comprehensively validated
  • Build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright for web frontend testing and Maestro for mobile application testing, achieving high test coverage across all patient-facing interfaces
  • Design automated API and backend service testing strategies that validate data integrity, security protocols, and integration points critical to healthcare information exchange

3. Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead and mentor engineers in best practices for healthcare software testing, fostering expertise in both manual and automated testing methodologies
  • Foster a quality-first culture across engineering teams

4. Compliance & Healthcare IT Standards

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., IEC 62304, ISO 27001, ENS).
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Team to establish testing protocols for patient data security, privacy controls, and clinical safety features
  • Stay current with evolving healthcare IT standards and integrate new compliance requirements into existing quality frameworks

5. Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with Product management, engineering, and clinical teams to translate healthcare requirements into comprehensive test scenarios and acceptance criteria
  • Communicate quality metrics, risk assessments, and testing progress to stakeholders through regular
    reporting
    and executive dashboards
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings to prioritize defects, plan releases, and coordinate testing efforts across multiple product lines

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise:

  • 7+ years of QA experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of ISTQB methodologies and proven experience implementing risk-based testing strategies in enterprise environments
  • Hands-on proficiency with BDD frameworks (Cucumber), web automation (Playwright/Selenium), and mobile testing tools (Maestro/Appium)
  • Excellence in test planning, test design, and defect management with proficiency in tools like JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr or similar

Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Track record of establishing QA processes from scratch or transforming existing quality practices in growing organizations
  • Experience presenting quality metrics, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations
  • Ability to balance technical leadership with people management, fostering both individual growth and team excellence

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement preventive measures
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for diverse stakeholders

Preferred qualifications

  • ISTQB certification or equivalent professional testing certifications
  • Background in Agile/Scrum methodologies with experience adapting testing practices to iterative development cycles
