The main goal of this project is to investigate how four new measurement opportunities that the growing presence of mobile devices made possible (namely voice input, visual data, metered data, and in-the-moment surveys) can help scientists and practitioners to get more accurate and/or more complete insights. The research team has offices in the UPF Ciutadella Campus (building Mercè Rodoreda 24) in Barcelona.
Main tasks: The main tasks for the junior researcher can include:
To help reviewing the literature on specific topics and write the corresponding introduction and background sections for the papers.
To help in designing, pretesting, or analyzing surveys and experiments.
To code the answers to open questions (usually in Spanish) according to predefined guidelines.
To classify images (i.e., extract the information of interest from images) according to predefined guidelines.
The junior researcher may also be asked to support other project-related tasks as needed, such as assisting with administrative work (e.g., booking travel), helping to organize events (e.g., workshops, webinars), translating documents (e.g., from Spanish to English), disseminating results, preparing code in R, or performing other small tasks required for the project. All tasks will be supervised by Dr. Melanie Revilla and possibly other team members.
Full time position: The contract will be of 35h per week.
Salary/duration/benefits
Gross annual salary for a full-time contract is approximately: €.
The labour contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
The selected candidate is expected to start as soon as possible. The position runs until July 2026 and includes a two-month probation period.
1. Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any field (preference for social sciences).
2. High level of fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English.
3. Good knowledge of Excel, Power Point and R.
4. Be meticulous and able to work in a quite autonomous way.
Other skills that will be valued
1. Some knowledge and previous experience with data collection and in particular survey data.
2. High motivation to learn and adaptability.
