Global Head of Cyber Defense Centre (SOC / Cyber Operations)

We're partnering with a large, globally operating technology-led organisation to appoint a Global Head of Cyber Defense Centre.

This role sits at the centre of the company's cybersecurity capability and is responsible for leading a mature, 24/7 cyber defense and security operations function spanning both IT and OT environments. The scope is genuinely global, with teams distributed across regions and time zones, and a remit that combines strategic direction with real operational ownership.

The successful candidate will set the long-term vision for the Cyber Defense Centre while ensuring day-to-day security monitoring, detection, and incident response operate seamlessly at scale. You'll work closely with senior cybersecurity architects, threat intelligence and incident response teams, and executive stakeholders to continuously evolve the organisation's defensive posture. A key part of the role is representing the CDC internally and externally, contributing to enterprise-wide security initiatives and engaging with the wider cybersecurity community.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll be accountable for service quality, tooling strategy, KPIs, budget ownership, and the development of highly specialised cyber professionals in a complex, distributed environment. You'll also play an important role in supporting major organisational change, including integrations and separations, from a cyber defense perspective.

Requirements

  • Proven senior leadership experience within cybersecurity operations, SOC, incident response, threat detection, or threat intelligence
  • Experience leading globally distributed technical teams in complex enterprise environments
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term vision and day-to-day operational delivery
  • Demonstrated ownership of critical security services, including service quality, KPIs, and tooling decisions
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to executive and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience managing budgets, planning investments, and prioritising resources at scale
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g. NIST, MITRE, ISO 27001 or similar)
  • Comfortable acting as a trusted advisor during high-pressure or business-critical situations
  • Existing connections within the wider global cybersecurity community
  • Fluent English required; additional languages are a plus
