UNICEF is seeking an experienced
Social and Community Listening Specialist
to support the global scale-up and effective use of
I HEAR U
, UNICEF's AI-enabled social listening platform. This role sits within the
Social and Behaviour Change (SBC)
unit and contributes directly to
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
by strengthening evidence-based, community-informed programming worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Scale-up & Support

  • Support global rollout, adoption, and continuous improvement of the I HEAR U platform across Country and Regional Offices.
  • Coordinate onboarding, user support, and feedback loops with internal teams and technical vendors.
  • Ensure SCL insights inform SBC and wider UNICEF programming priorities.

Capacity Building & Analysis

  • Develop and disseminate guidance, tools, and training materials on social and community listening.
  • Produce analytical outputs (thematic, campaign, emergency, and ad hoc reports) on trends, perceptions, and misinformation.

Knowledge Sharing & Visibility

  • Facilitate communities of practice, peer learning, demos, and launch events.
  • Contribute to internal communications, knowledge products, and partnerships to position I HEAR U as a global UNICEF asset.

Volunteerism

  • Promote UN Volunteer values through engagement, knowledge-sharing, reporting, and support to UNV initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:
    Master's degree in Social Sciences, Behavioural Science, Communication, Digital Communication/Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    Minimum
    7 years
    in SBC, digital platforms, data analysis, or development programming, including multi-country initiatives.
  • Languages:
    Fluent English (required); French, Arabic, and/or Spanish (desirable).
  • Skills:
    Project management, digital engagement, data analysis, capacity development, strong communication and reporting skills.

Volunteer Living Allowance: currently US$ 3,710 to US$ 4,160

UN Volunteers serve full-time in their professional expertise, supported by a benefits package, including a monthly living allowance to ensure a secure standard of living at their duty stations. These allowances are not intended as compensation, reward, or salary for the volunteer's service.
