Leveraging recent advances in Computational Lexicography, Cognitive Science and Neural Computational Linguistics, MaPPLexiC aims to uncover and articulate in terms of human understandable rules why certain words combine to form idiosyncratic combinations, i.e., collocations, to convey specific meanings by interpreting neural collocation recognition and classification models. As part of MaPPLexiC, we are looking for an experienced researcher specializing in Explanatory Combinatorial Lexicology and, in particular, in the Lexical Function typology of collocations. **Key Duties** - Provide training to the team of annotators on the Lexical Function typology - Lead the compilation of lists of lexical function samples in the languages of the project (Czech, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Russian, and Spanish) - Lead the corpus acquisition activities in the project - Supervise and participate in the corpus annotation activities in the project - Supervise and participate in the evaluation activities in the project **Requirements**: - Education - Master or equivalent in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics - Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience - Profound knowledge of Explanatory Combinatorial Lexicology and Dependency Linguistics - Expertise in corpus annotation with Lexical Functions - Competence in several languages of the project (Czech, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Russian, and Spanish) - Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment - Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience - Experience in dependency parsing frameworks - Competences - Fluency in spoken and written English, French and Spanish **Conditions** - The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department - We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures - Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration - Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement - Starting date: asap **Applications procedure and process** - A full CV in English including contact details - A cover/motivation letter with a statement of interest in English, clearly specifying for which specific area and topics the applicant wishes to be considered.
