While all Animation studios look to hire people who are creative and hard-working, Skydance Animation is specifically looking for pioneers who seek to push the limits of what the world’s most collaborative art form can achieve, and to give those pioneers the space and the resources to build a new studio that’s doing something different.As a **Character Surfacing Artist**, you will create high detailed texture maps and materials for the animated film’s characters. You will be involved in many aspects of the look, working in coordination with the Production Designer and the Art Department to deliver a visually impressive look.

**Responsibilities**:

- Create textures utilizing photography and pre-existing textures, as well as procedural textures in Substance Designer.
- Portray stylized textures from concepts following the look of the film.
- Precisely and accurately follow references and direction to create the desired look.
- Keep up on current artistic methodologies and on technology trends and tools that best suit the production and the company in the development of a stronger creative and technical environment.

**Requirements**:

- 2-4 years of professional experience in the VFX or animation industries.
- Experience with Maya, Mari, and/or Substance Painter and Substance Designer.
- Experience working with Houdini and Arnold render is a plus.
- Experience with traditional drawing, and/or painting is a plus.
- Possess deep knowledge of UVs, texture layout, skinning, rigging, lighting, and optimization.
- High English level desired.
